Approach & methodology

How we actually work.

No black boxes. No management-consulting theatre. Transparent methodology, you know what’s happening, who’s doing the work, and what the output is.

Philosophy

Three principles guide every engagement.

01

Start with the real work.

Process maps mean nothing if they describe how work should happen. We spend time with the practitioners, the people doing the work, not the managers. That’s where tribal knowledge lives. That’s where redesign actually starts.

02

Co-design, not hand-off.

You know your business better than we ever will. We facilitate workshops, ask hard questions, document decisions. Your team makes the choices. The output is something you designed and understand, not something a consulting team built and gave you.

03

Design for independence.

Engagements end with you operating independently, not dependent on us. 30/60/90-day independence plan. Improvement protocol built in. Our job is to be unnecessary.

How an engagement works

From problem to independence.

Every phase is clear up front. You know what happens, who does it, and what lands on your desk at the end.

Phase 1

Kickoff

Week 1

Initial call with you and your process owner(s). We scope which 2–4 workflows matter most and why, define deliverables, timeline, and team. You tell us who the practitioners are.

  • Clear scope document
  • Named delivery team
  • Weekly sync cadence
Phase 2

Current-State Mapping

Weeks 2–3 (or ongoing for QUALIFY)

We interview practitioners, observe workflows in action, document how work actually happens. We surface tribal knowledge, exceptions, workarounds, decision points.

  • Current-state process maps
  • Tribal knowledge register
  • Friction analysis
  • Draft recommendations
Phase 3

Design Workshops

Weeks 4–8 (for TRANSFORM)

Facilitated co-design workshops. We present current-state. You design the target state. We challenge assumptions, surface hidden requirements, document decisions, synthesize drafts.

  • Target-state process maps
  • RACI matrix
  • Decision log
  • Handoff protocols
Phase 4

Refinement & Handoff Kit

Weeks 8–10

Final refinement. We build the independence plan, handoff kit, improvement protocol, executive summary. Everything organized, ready to use.

  • Final maps & RACI
  • Handoff kit
  • 30/60/90 plan
  • Executive summary
Phase 5

Independence Ramp

Weeks 10–19

Weeks 10–12: you operate, we’re on speed-dial. Weeks 13–16: weekly check-ins. Weeks 17–19: you operate alone. Final handoff call at day 90.

  • On-demand support
  • Weekly sync calls
  • Adjustment recommendations
Ownership & handoff

What lands on your desk.

Not a PDF we hand over and disappear. A living set of documents your team takes over.

Ownership Matrix (RACI)

Who does what. Who approves. Who’s informed.

Process Maps

Visual maps of every process, current-state and target-state.

Decision Log

Every design decision, documented, with the reasoning.

Handoff Kit

Templates, checklists, tools, escalation paths, contact lists.

30/60/90 Plan

Learn, optimise, operate independently, structured.

Improvement Protocol

How your team improves the processes when something isn’t working.

Delivery model

You always know who’s doing the work.

No team of junior consultants. No partner who signs off without being in the room. Three people. Named. Accountable. Present.

Lead consultant

Named, accountable.

15+ years in business process or IT leadership. Owns the engagement, leads workshops, makes final calls. Your primary contact, present throughout.

Specialist

Subject-matter expert.

Domain expertise, process design, compliance, ERP, IT governance. Leads technical depth in your industry. Named and present in workshops.

Process designer

Builds the package.

Documents current state, synthesizes the designs, builds the templates. Named and accountable. Owns the deliverables package.

The assets underneath

Process Domain Library & Compliance Control Map.

Two proprietary methodology assets make the pace described on the service pages possible. Not published frameworks, not licensed products at this stage, a credibility signal, not a sales pitch.

Process Domain Library

Reference operating models per domain.

Target-state operating models for HR, Finance, IT Ops & InfoSec, Data & Privacy, Procurement & Vendor, Risk & Compliance, Business Continuity, Product Engineering / SDLC, Customer Success, Sales Operations, Marketing & Communications, Legal & Contract Ops. The same models underpin every consulting engagement and the forthcoming EQUIP Operating Packs, which is why scoping is fast, handoff is consistent, and quality is comparable across consulting and product.

Compliance Control Map

Cross-framework control grid.

The grid that exposes control overlap across the frameworks in our scope, and turns "one control, several obligations" into a measurable efficiency gain rather than a promise. The map is rendered per engagement, and later per EQUIP licensee, against the specific framework combo the client's context demands.

Framework scope

What we cover, and what we don't.

Transparent, because you should know where we go deep and where we refer out.

Tier 1 · Universal baseline

Every engagement, every EQUIP pack.

GDPR · revFADP/revDSG · ISO/IEC 27001 · ISO/IEC 27701 · EU AI Act · ISO/IEC 42001

Tier 2 · Context-triggered

When the context demands it, per engagement.

SOC 2 · PCI DSS · NIS2 · DORA · FINMA 2023/1 · CRA · ISO/IEC 27017 · ISO/IEC 27018 · ISO/IEC 22301

Tier 3 · Meta-frameworks

Governance language for Fractional CIO conversations.

NIST CSF 2.0 · COBIT 2019 · ITIL 4 · CIS Controls v8

What we explicitly do not productise

German national frameworks are not part of our standing capability set:

BSI IT-Grundschutz · BSI C5 · TISAX · BAIT/VAIT/KAIT/ZAIT · GoBD · HinSchG · LkSG

If a client engagement requires them we will bring in a specialist partner; we do not market or lead with these frameworks because they require a German-national depth that sits outside our Zurich-anchored, DACH-and-international SME scope. Framing this transparently is part of how we keep the consulting offer honest.

Scope boundaries

What we don’t do.

  • No implementation. Once you have the process maps, RACI, and handoff protocols, we hand off to you (or your vendors). Implementation is your job, or your ERP vendor’s job.
  • No ongoing management. We’re not your fractional COO. (If you need fractional CIO / IT leadership, that’s a separate engagement.)
  • No training. Your team operates the new process. You decide whether to formalize training.

Want to see this in action?

30 minutes. We’ll walk you through what an engagement looks like for your situation.

Does this sound like your situation?

A 30-minute scoping call tells you whether we're the right fit, and if we are, what the first step looks like.
